Harvest - Allergen Management for Food

Overview

Harvest – Allergen Management provides end‑to‑end allergen tracking and compliance capabilities across the manufacturing and inventory lifecycle in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The extension enables food manufacturers to meet regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and maintain complete allergen traceability from raw materials through finished goods.

Before you start

Before using this feature, make sure:

  • Harvest – Allergen Management is installed from Microsoft Marketplace.

How to use Harvest - Allergen Management for Food

Default Allergens

The app comes with a pre-configured list of common allergens. To access them, do the following:
  1. Use Search (Alt+Q) and type Allergens.
  2. Open the Allergens page.
  3. The following allergens will display:
    • MILK – Milk
    • EGG – Egg
    • PEANUT – Peanut
    • TREENUT – Tree Nut
    • WHEAT – Wheat
    • SOY – Soy
    • FISH – Fish
    • SHELLFISH – Shellfish
    • SESAME – Sesame
    • MUSTARD – Mustard
    • SULFITES/SULPHITES – Sulfites

Configure Custom Allergens

It is also possible to configure custom allergens that are specific to your company.
  1. On the Allergens page, select New.


  1. Enter a unique Code
  2. Enter a Description
    1. Tab off the field
  3. Repeat for any additional company‑specific allergens.

Assign Allergens to Raw Material Items

  1. Navigate to Items.
  2. Open the Item card for a raw material or component.
  3. Verify the Allergens FactBox is visible.
  4. Select Related → Item → Other → Allergens (or choose Edit in the FactBox).


  1. On the Item Allergens page, select New.

  1. Choose an Allergen Code.
  2. Select a Presence Level:
    • Contains — The item definitively contains the allergen.
    • May Contain — Possible cross‑contamination or trace amounts.
  3. Repeat for all applicable allergens.
  4. Select OK.
  5. You can now view the allergen information in the FactBox

  

  1. For items with multi‑level BOMs, allergens from all BOM levels automatically roll up and display.

 

What happens next?

  1. You can now view the allergens from the Item FactBox
  2. You can now view the allergens from the Production BOM FactBox
  3. You can now view the allergens from the Production Order FactBox

I cannot see this feature
Confirm that the app is installed and enabled, and that you have permission to access Harvest - Allergen Management for Food
I made a mistake
If you made a mistake on the Allergen assigned to the Raw Material, edit the Item Allergens page. Then verify the allergen rollup in the Production BOM.
